What Does the Mentor Programme Entail?

As a mentor, you’ll be providing support and coaching to teens and young adults aged 16 to 25. By engaging with them on a meaningful level, and offering guidance and advice, you’ll give them the skills and confidence they need to achieve their goals and strive for successful careers.

The Process

When you apply, we’ll assess your suitability for the role and shortlist you for interviews. If you’re successful, you’ll be added to LCN’s internal database, which is used to match you with an appropriate mentee.

Upon matching, you and your new mentee will participate in a one-off social activity (through video call or at a casual face-to-face venue). This is important for identifying whether you two are comfortable with each other and get along.

Finally, you and your mentee (or their parent/guardian where applicable) will agree to the terms of a statement of understanding. This document outlines the conditions of the match and the mentoring relationship, in addition to its duration (3 to 12 months). For more information, please see “mentoring agreement form” attached.

Unfortunately, we aren’t always able to match you with a mentee. However, we will endeavour to provide you re-matching opportunities where possible.

How We Help You

We want to help you and your mentee build a lasting, fulfilling relationship. That’s why throughout the mentorship, particularly during the early stages, LCN will provide support and supervision to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.

We will also keep a record of feedback given by you and your mentee. This will document the activities, the mentorship process and how your mentoring relationship has developed during the arranged period. In doing this, we will ensure that both your future mentorships and others’ are successful and productive.
